If you’re searching for ways to save on airfares this holiday season, Google Flights has a solution. The newly launched “Cheapest” tab helps travelers find lower-cost flight options for their trips.
Much like other flight comparison tools like Skyscanner, the “Cheapest” tab on Google Flights highlights affordable routes. These options may include longer stopovers or flights into alternate airports in the same area, perfect for those who are flexible in exchange for saving money.
Using this feature is simple: enter your travel information, and Google Flights will gather prices from third-party booking sites and alternative routes. According to Google, this new feature will be available within two weeks—just in time for Thanksgiving in the U.S. and Christmas celebrations around the world.
As Google puts it, “When budget matters more than convenience, the new tab makes it easier to find the lowest prices and decide what compromises you’re willing to make.”
Additionally, Google Flights recently added Amtrak train fares into its searches, offering users even more travel choices. Although some travelers have noticed that train tickets can sometimes be pricier than flights, this added feature gives more flexibility to travelers looking for alternate transportation.
